拍案惊奇二集.书前版画.明.凌濛初编撰.法国国家图书馆藏.明末清初坊刊本

明代末叶，在我国小说史上先后出现了五部很重要的短篇作品集，冯梦龙编的《喻世明言》(《古今小说》)、《警世通言》、《醒世恒言》和凌潆初编著的《拍案惊奇》、《二刻拍案惊奇》。它们被合称为“三言二拍”(也作“三言两拍”)。若就我国短篇小说的发展来说，它们实具有里程碑的性质。这种成就的取得，首先与当时的社会思潮和作家本人的思想有关。凌濛初(1580—1644)，字玄房，号初成，别号即空观主人，浙江乌程(今吴兴)人。出身世家，颇有才情，但科举不利，仅为副贡生。崇祯初年，授上海县丞。后升徐州通判。在李自成所统属的部队进攻徐州时，曾竭力守御，最终呕血而死。著有诗文集《国门集》(已佚)及杂剧剧本《北红拂》、《虬髯翁》等。又编有散曲戏曲选集《南音三籁》。他既是小说家，也是戏曲家。
At the end of the Ming Dynasty, five important collections of short stories appeared in the history of novels in China, including Feng Menglong’s Yushimingyan (Ancient and Modern Novels), Alerting to the World, Xingshihengyan, and Ling Yingchu’s Paipingqi and Erke Paipingqi. They are collectively referred to as “San Yan Er Pai” (also known as “San Yan Er Pai”). In terms of the development of short stories in China, they have the nature of milestones. The achievement of this kind is first related to the social trends of thought at that time and the author’s own thoughts. Ling Mengchu (1580-1644), also known as Xuanfang and Chucheng, was born in Wucheng (now Wuxing), Zhejiang Province. Born from a noble family and possessing considerable talent, but not performing well in the imperial examination, he was only a deputy tribute student. In the early years of Chongzhen, he was awarded as a county magistrate of Shanghai. Later promoted to Xuzhou Tongju. When Li Zicheng’s troops attacked Xuzhou, they tried their best to defend, and finally died of vomiting blood. He has authored a collection of poetry and essays, such as “Guomen Collection” (which has been lost), as well as drama scripts, such as “North Red Brush” and “Qiu Furen Weng”. He has also compiled a selection of Sanqu and Traditional Chinese Opera “Nanyin Sanlai”. He is both a novelist and a dramatist.
