Making Trouble out of Nothing is a play created by William Shakespeare, a British playwright. It was written in 1598-1599.

The comedy is a work of William Shakespeare in his mature writing period, which tells two types of love stories in that era: one is to follow social norms and the concept of family status, representing Hero and Claude who combine tradition; The other was Benedict and Beatrice, who initially mocked each other and refused to compromise, but ultimately fell for each other and perfectly combined. In this comedy, Shakespeare explores issues such as self-awareness, sincerity and mutual respect between men and women, and social order.

There are two parallel clues around the theme of marriage proposal in ‘Nothing Makes a Difference’. One of the couples is Claudio and Hero. Claudio proposed to Hero and obtained his father’s permission.

But at the wedding, John, the brother-in-law of Prince Aragon, fabricated slander due to jealousy and boredom, causing Claudio to be deceived, thinking that Hero was an impure woman and insulting him in person, almost causing Hero to die. The priest came up with a plan to have Hero feign death and uncover the truth. Later, the scam was exposed, and Claudio and Hero reconciled. This clue seems to be in line with the traditional mode of marriage at that time.

And another clue is that their enemies Benedict and Beatrice are proud and contemptuous of their marriage, but in the prince’s kind trap, they both believe that the other party loves them, and from then on, they lower their arrogant heads and develop true feelings for each other. Fake it into reality and walk towards the palace of marriage.

The two story lines in the play are adapted from different stories by William Shakespeare. The story of Hero and Claudio seems to have been adapted from the publication of Orlando Furioso by Ariosto in Italy in 1516 (English translation published in 1591) and the 22nd short story in Novella by Matteo Bandello in 1554. This tragic story has a romantic and sentimental Italian flavor. In addition, during the Renaissance, there were occasional themes of unmarried women being stigmatized, with many ending in tragedy, such as in Spencer’s “Faerie Queen”.

Nothing makes trouble “,” Everyone is happy “, and” Twelfth Night “are collectively known as the three major celebratory comedies.
