William Shakespeare was baptized on April 26, 1564, in Stratford, a small town in England on the Avon River. He was the third child of wealthy businessman John Shakespeare and his wife Mary Arden. It is speculated that Shakespeare, as a teenager, studied English, Greek and Latin at Stratford grammar school. But historians cannot determine the exact date of Shakespeare’s birth.

In 1582, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway. The couple had their daughter Susanna in 1583, and two years later they had seven twins, Hamnett and Judith. Between 1585 and 1592, Shakespeare lived in London. There, he first became an actor and later became a playwright. His troupe, the King’s Theatre, often performs at the Universal Theater, and Shakespeare is one of the shareholders of the theater.

Shakespeare wrote a total of 37 plays, some poems, and a large number of sonnets throughout his life. In 1611, he left the hustle and bustle of the theater and retired to Stratford Town, where he lived in the second largest house and became a gentry. After that, Shakespeare spent five years of quiet life, died on April 23, 1616, and was buried in Trinity Church in Stratford. From his time until now, Shakespeare has been considered one of the greatest writers in the English speaking world.
