戴敦邦(1938年-)，中国现代著名国画家，自号民间艺人，江苏镇江丹徒石马乡人，1956年毕业于上海第一师范学校，任《中国少年报》、《儿童时代》美术编辑，1976年入上海工艺美术研究所，上海交通大学美术研究室副主任，后担任上海交通大学人文学院教授直至退休。
因长期创作连环画，一度被推选为中国美术家协会连环画艺术委员会副主任，又担任过上海道教协会副会长和上海美术家协会常务理事。
多数作品为依附于中国古典文名著和古典诗词的插图,如《红楼梦》、《水浒传》、《三国演义》、《聊斋志异》、《西厢记》等，是蜚声海内外的中国画大家，也是深受读书人喜爱的插图艺术名家,连环画家,上海交通大学艺术系副教授、人文学院教授。他早年曾任文艺出版社装帧设计师，插图艺术自然当行。后调任大学教授绘画，出版界仍对他紧追不舍。擅人物，工写兼长，多以古典题材及古装人物入画，所作气魄宏大，笔墨雄健豪放，形象生动传神，画风雅俗共赏。
Dai Dunbang (1938-), a famous modern Chinese painter, self proclaimed as a folk artist, was born in Shima Township, Dantu, Zhenjiang, Jiangsu. He graduated from Shanghai First Normal School in 1956 and served as an art editor for China Youth Daily and Children’s Times. In 1976, he joined the Shanghai Institute of Arts and Crafts and became the deputy director of the Art Research Office at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He later served as a professor at the School of Humanities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University until retirement.
Due to his long-term creation of comic strips, he was once elected as the Deputy Director of the Comic Art Committee of the China Artists Association. He also served as the Vice President of the Shanghai Taoist Association and the Executive Director of the Shanghai Artists Association.
Most of his works are illustrations based on Chinese classical literature and poetry, such as “Dream of the Red Chamber”, “Water Margin”, “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, “Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio”, “Romance of the Western Chamber”, etc. He is a renowned figure in Chinese painting both domestically and internationally, as well as a beloved illustrator and serial artist among scholars. He is also an associate professor at the Department of Art and the School of Humanities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In his early years, he served as a graphic designer at the Literature and Art Publishing House, naturally in the field of illustration art. Later, he was transferred to the university as a professor of painting, and the publishing world still followed him closely. Proficient in characters, skilled in both writing and writing, often incorporating classical themes and ancient costume characters into the painting. The work is grand and imposing, with vigorous and bold brushstrokes, vivid and vivid images, and a style that is both refined and popular.
