明万历间，鉴藏摹刻秦、汉印章汇为印谱的风气极盛，程远尝选择各家藏印，及彼时著名篆刻家佳制，于万历壬寅(1602年)摹成《古今印则》四卷，堪称就中佼佼者。此谱分列秦、汉古玺、玉印、侯印、私印及国朝名印。此本为明万历年间刊本。程远，字彦明，江苏无锡人，活动于明代万历年间，静于印学，善摹印，时誉其与文彭、何震为印坛鼎足而三也。
During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, it was very popular to collect and copy the seals of the Qin Dynasty and the Han Dynasty to form a seal. He was quiet in the study of printing and good at copying. He was praised as the third best in the world of printing with Wen Peng and He Zhen.
