祝允明《饮中八仙歌》，草书，拓本，书于明正德丙寅，日本国立国会图书馆藏。祝允明，长洲（今江苏吴县）人，享年六十七。性嗜酒，为人放荡不羁，风趣洒脱，才华横溢，是有明一代颇负书誉和声望的书法家和文学家。祝允明狂草能达到极高之境界，与其书法追古取向有关，可谓追古是其狂章进入化境的基础。祝允明转益多师，书体全面，然皆取法高古。对于这一点，晚年的视允明曾体会深刻，“学，苦无积累功，所幸独蒙先人之教。自髫兆以来，绝其令学近人书，目所接皆晋唐帖也……。上追魏、晋、唐、宋、元，绝去时人书不学，集众家之长，遂成个人面貌。另外，王卫民曾在其文章中分析过“仕途失意”也是祝允明狂草书风形成的原因之一。闫继翔也认为祝允明善小楷和狂草这两种跨度很大的书体与漫长的科考给他造成的两极性格有关。西汉扬雄曾言“书，心画也”，今人也常说“字如其人”。一个人书风的形成离不开他的人生经历与心境的变化，因此祝允明狂草书风的形成亦离不开那段坎坷的仕途经历和愈发矛盾的心路历程。
Zhu Yunming’s “Song of the Eight Immortals in Drinking”, cursive script, rubbings, is in Bingyin, Zhengde, Japan National Library of Congress. Zhu Yunming, born in Changzhou (now Wuxian County, Jiangsu Province), was 67 years old. He is a bookish calligrapher and litterateur of the Ming Dynasty, who is addicted to alcohol, dissolute, witty and brilliant. Zhu Yunming’s wild grass can reach a very high level, which is related to the ancient orientation of his calligraphy. It can be said that the ancient pursuit is the basis for his crazy chapter to enter the realm. Zhu Yunming has learned a lot, and his style is comprehensive, but all of them are based on the ancient method. In his later years, Shi Yunming had a profound understanding of this point. “Learning has never been successful, but he was lucky to be taught by his ancestors alone. Since Tiaozhao, he has never been able to learn the books of the near people, and his eyes have all been followed by the books of the Jin and Tang dynasties. He has never been able to learn the books of the Wei, Jin, Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties. He has never been able to learn the books of the people, and has collected the strengths of many families, and thus became his own face. In addition, Wang Weimin has analyzed in his article that” failure in the official career “is also one of the reasons for Zhu Yunming’s wild cursive style of writing. Yan Jixiang also believes that Zhu Yunming’s two types of calligraphy with a large span of time, namely, good and small script and wild script, are related to his bipolar character caused by the long scientific research. In the Western Han Dynasty, Yang Xiong once said that “the book is like the heart painting”. Today, people often say that “words are like people”. The formation of a person’s style of writing is inseparable from his life experience and mood changes. Therefore, the formation of Zhu Yunming’s style of cursive writing is also inseparable from the bumpy official career experience and the increasingly contradictory mental path.
