这本清末学者沈文荧翻译的《日本神字考》，是日本文字学家园田弘编的一本关于日本古代文字起源与中国汉字之间的关系的书籍。书中罗列大量金石或铭文古代文字。此本刊印于明治17年（1884）。沈文荧（1833—1886）字心灿，号敬轩，又号梅史，清末余姚县浒山城南门外（今属慈溪市浒山街道）人。文荧擅诗词书画，通音律，咸丰二年（1852）副贡，九年（1859）举人，曾招集义勇抗击太平军。同治四年（1865），由陕西提督雷正绾聘为记室，转战关外，跋涉于天山葱岭之间，以战功授正五品陕西省候补直隶知州。光绪三年（1877）十一月任出使日本随员，与黄遵宪、王韬等交好，是晚清中日交流的重要人物之一。在日期间，与东瀛众多文人学士广结文缘，时常聚会赋诗唱和，同汉学家大河内辉声、石川英、宫岛诚一郎、冈千仞、增田贡等交谊深厚。还应不少日本文人之请题扇写匾、绘画作词，为他们的着作撰写序跋、评语，在当时日本文化界颇具声名。光绪五年十一月西渡回国。光绪十一年任商州知州，当年十二月卒于州署。
This book, translated by Shen Wenying, a scholar at the end of the Qing Dynasty, is a book about the relationship between the origin of ancient Japanese characters and Chinese characters compiled by Hiroshi Yuanda, a Japanese philologist. The book lists a large number of ancient inscriptions and inscriptions. This magazine was printed in the 17th year of Meiji (1884). Shen Wenying (1833-1886), with the characters of Xin Can, Jing Xuan, and Mei Shi, was born outside the south gate of Hushan Town, Yuyao County, in the late Qing Dynasty (now located in Hushan Street, Cixi City). Wen Ying is good at poetry, calligraphy and painting, and is good at music. In the second year of Xianfeng’s reign (1852), he served as a deputy tribute, and in the ninth year of the reign (1859), he recruited volunteers to fight the Taiping Army. In the fourth year of Tongzhi’s reign (1865), Lei Zhengwan, the governor of Shaanxi Province, was employed as the recording room, transferred to the outside of the pass, and trudged between the green mountains of the Tianshan Mountains. He was awarded the fifth grade of Shaanxi Province’s alternate Zhili Prefecture with war merit. In November of the third year of Guangxu’s reign (1877), he served as an envoy to Japan and made good friends with Huang Zunxian and Wang Tao. He was one of the important figures in Sino-Japanese exchanges in the late Qing Dynasty. During the day, he had extensive cultural ties with many Japanese scholars and scholars, often gathered to compose poems and sing songs, and had deep friendship with Sinologists such as Ohinaki, Ishikawa, Miyoshima Seiichiro, Okayama, Zengta, etc. At the request of many Japanese literati, they also wrote plaques and paintings, and wrote prefaces and commentaries for their works, which was quite famous in the Japanese cultural circle at that time. In November of the fifth year of Guangxu’s reign, he returned home from the west. In the eleventh year of Guangxu’s reign, he was appointed governor of Shangzhou and died in the State Administration in December of that year.
