《西方的中国影像(1793-1949) 亨利·威尔逊卷(套装共2册)》汇集1793年英国特使马戛尔尼使华以来(此前有关中国的影像较少)到1949年以前西方来华的外交官、军人、传教士、探险家、专业记者等创作的有关中国的绘画和照片,以及西方报刊或在中国境内出版的西文报刊当时发表的有关中国的图片资料。绘画和照片的内容包括自然风光、宫殿民居建筑、生产生活场景、民族宗教社会习俗,以及重要人物和历史事件等。收录图片一万三千余幅,70%以上在大陆是首次出版。本册是亨利·威尔逊卷。亨利·威尔逊 , (Ernest Henry Wilson 1876-1930),英国人。二十世纪初世界上著名的园艺学家、植物学家、探险家。亨利·威尔逊1899年至1911年间,曾4次来到中国,3次进入横断山域考察。威尔逊被西方称为“打开中国西部花园的人”,对植物的研究和推广作出了巨大贡献,为西方国家引种了大量的园林花卉植物。1913年,他出版了《一个博物学家在华西》(A Naturalist in Western China)这一有影响的著作,此书在1929年重版时易名为《中国:园林之母》(China Mother of Gardens)。1907年后,亨利·威尔逊 他带着从沉重摄影器材,在交通极不发达的中国西部翻山越岭、拍摄了2000余幅珍贵的图片。在他拍摄的照片里,除他研究的植物花卉外,还有大量当时该区域的人文地理历史照片,这些照片为我们对横断山域的综合研究,提供了至为珍贵的资料。是珍贵的历史老照片,让我们能够看到当时的情景。
The Western Images of China (1793-1949) Henry Wilson Volume (2 volumes in total) collects paintings and photos about China created by Western diplomats, soldiers, missionaries, explorers, professional writers and others who came to China from 1793, when British envoy Macartney made the mission to China (there were few images about China before that) to 1949, As well as the pictures and materials about China published by western newspapers or western newspapers published in China at that time.
