《西方的中国影像（1793-1949） 莫理循卷（套装共3册）》汇集1793年英国特使马戛尔尼使华以来（此前有关中国的影像较少）到1949年以前西方来华的外交官、、传教士、探险家、专业记者等创作的有关中国的绘画和照片，以及西方报刊或在中国境内出版的西文报刊当时发表的有关中国的图片资料。绘画和照片的内容包括自然风光、宫殿民居建筑、生产生活场景、民族宗教社会习俗，以及重要人物和历史事件等。收录图片一万三千余幅，70%以上在大陆是首次出版。本册为莫理循卷，由允斌主编。莫理循是英国《泰晤士报》聘为驻华首席记者。1897年3月，莫理循到达北京，开始了他二十余年的中国生活。1910年，莫理循进行了为时半年的中国西部考察，从陕西咸阳出发，经甘肃平凉、兰州、凉州、甘州、肃州、出嘉峪关进新疆，经哈密、乌鲁木齐、石河子，西行到达伊犁。在此次考察中，莫理循拍摄了大量有关中国西北地区风情的珍贵照片。

The Western Images of China (1793-1949) Morrison Volume (3 volumes in total) collects paintings and photos about China created by Western diplomats, missionaries, explorers, professional journalists, etc. who came to China from 1793 when the British envoy Macartney made the mission to China (there were few images about China before) to 1949, as well as pictures about China published by western newspapers or western newspapers published in China at that time. Paintings and photos include natural scenery, palaces and residential buildings, production and living scenes, ethnic, religious and social customs, as well as important figures and historical events. More than 13000 pictures were included, more than 70% of which were first published on the mainland. This volume is Morrison volume, edited by Yunbin. Morrison was employed by the Times as the chief reporter in China. In March 1897, Morrison arrived in Beijing and began his Chinese life of more than 20 years. In 1910, Morrison carried out a six month expedition to western China, starting from Xianyang, Shaanxi, passing through Pingliang, Gansu, Lanzhou, Liangzhou, Ganzhou, Suzhou, leaving Jiayu Pass, entering Xinjiang, passing through Hami, Urumqi, Shihezi, and heading west to Yili. During this visit, Morrison took a large number of precious photos about the customs of northwest China.
