平安时代后期的绘僧鳥羽僧正、也有一说是同時代绘僧定智，于1111年到1125年间制作了「勝絵」绘卷。绘卷前半是「陽物比べ」、后半便是「放屁合戦」。鸟羽僧正，又名觉猷，被称为漫画之祖，最著名的作品是国宝『鳥獣人物戯画』绘卷（最近在东京国立博物馆展出，才开始几天就紧急事态了
