The Atlas of Higher Plants in China (Volume IV) is a book published by the Science Press in 1975. The author is the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This book introduces various angiosperms from Scrophulariaceae to Compositae, including morphology, distribution, habitat, etc. Introduction to the Chinese Higher Plant Atlas (Volume 4): China has a vast territory and a wide variety of plants. There are about 30000 species of higher plants (including bryophytes, ferns, gymnosperms and angiosperms). The Atlas of Higher Plants in China (Volume 4) mainly includes more than 8000 species of economic value and common species, and is published in five volumes. The first volume includes the casuarinaceae to nelumbaceae of bryophytes, ferns, gymnosperms and angiosperms; the second volume includes the papaveraceae to cornaceae of angiosperms; the third volume includes the amaranthaceae to solanaceae of angiosperms; the fourth volume includes the scrophulariaceae to compositae of angiosperms; and the fifth volume includes the monocotyledonous class of angiosperms. Each plant has a brief description and line diagram of its morphology, distribution and habitat. Some plants also describe their main uses. Due to the length of the text, some aliases and important Latin synonyms of some kinds are placed in the middle name and Latin name indexes respectively. Each volume is also attached with the corresponding family and genus key list; Since the third volume, a brief description of the family and a key to the classification of some genera have been added at the request of readers.
