修·昂纳（Hugh Honour），我们这个时代杰出的艺术史家之一。约翰·弗莱明（JohnFleming），资深出版人，于2001年离世，曾编辑著名的鹈鹕“风格与文明”系列丛书。修·昂纳与约翰·弗莱明二人在建筑研究上也颇有建树，曾一起编纂了企鹅出版社《建筑与景观辞典》。本书现当代艺术部分的撰写者米歇尔·阿切尔则是当代著名的艺术史学者，于牛津大学罗斯金绘画与艺术学院任教。

Hugh Honor is one of the outstanding art historians of our time. John Fleming, a senior publisher who passed away in 2001, edited the famous Pelican “Style and Civilization” series. Xiu Onner and John Fleming also made significant contributions in architectural research, and together they compiled the Penguin Publishing House’s Dictionary of Architecture and Landscape. The author of the contemporary art section of this book, Michel Archer, is a renowned contemporary art historian who teaches at the Ruskin School of Painting and Art at Oxford University.
