Illustrated Wing Chun Quan is Bruce Lee’s disciple Li Yunji Yan Jinghai, corrected by Bruce Lee, and is considered one of Bruce Lee’s seven martial arts originals. Unlike Basic Chinese Boxing, which has more collection significance than practical value, this book systematically and comprehensively explains and demonstrates Wing Chun techniques. There are nearly 1000 action photos of Yan Jinghai and Ted Wong demonstrating. It is a good book with collection value and real practical value.

The first edition of this book was a work from many years ago, around the late 1970s or early 1980s. Therefore, the level of layout and image clarity of books and magazines during this period is at the same level as before, and cannot be compared to today’s books and magazines. However, it is emphasized that this book is the original edition and reprinted by the original publishing house. Please understand this!

This is the only book in the world on Wing Chun corrected by Bruce Lee – Illustrated Wing Chun. This book is corrected by Bruce Lee. The author is Li Yun, namely Yan Jinghai, a disciple of Bruce Lee, born in the United States, the holder of weightlifting record of heavyweight in North Carolina, and one of the three assistants trained by Bruce Lee himself. It has long been Bruce Lee’s wish to publish such high-quality martial arts works as “Jiang Zong of Martial Arts” by Wan Laisheng, a Chinese martial arts master. During the period of injury and illness, he wrote the immortal martial arts masterpiece “The Way of Jeet Kune Do” by taking the opportunity of recuperation, and decided to submit it to the publishing house for publication to slow down the family’s economic situation. But when he learned that Yan Jinghai was also planning to publish his own monograph “Illustrated Wing Chun Quan”, he decided to help Yan Jinghai, who was sick and unemployed, by transferring the already negotiated publishing contract to Yan Jinghai, causing the publishing house to spend money to purchase Yan Jinghai’s unfinished works. His economy is also very difficult at this time, but he is more sympathetic to Yan Jinghai. Moreover, Bruce Lee is one of the most important founders of the American martial arts world.

As Wing Chun was still an unknown genre in the United States at that time, and Yan Jinghai still lacked enough popularity in the martial arts world in the United States, Bruce Lee put a “technical guidance” post on this Wing Chun textbook to make a great show for his beloved disciples, and personally supervised and guided the shooting of Yan Jinghai and Ted Wong’s demonstration photos, striving to help his beloved disciples complete a classic Chinese martial arts textbook as soon as possible. As we can see from the cover of the original edition of this book, Bruce Lee’s name is unexpectedly listed above Yan Jinghai. For one thing, Yan Jinghai respects his teacher very much, and this book has also cost Bruce Lee a lot of effort; Secondly, it was the first time to publish martial arts monographs in the United States, and I still have no idea about the distribution, so I still need to borrow Bruce Lee to make a reputation.

The book “Illustrated Wing Chun Quan” featured nearly a thousand action demonstration photos, which took more than ten days to complete. It was published by OHARA PUBLICATION INCORPORATED in 1972. There is no denying that this book has soaked Bruce Lee’s great efforts, which can be regarded as a reward for Yan Jinghai, who is also a teacher, friend and apprentice, for his free help in reading books for many years. Although this book was revised by Bruce Lee in name, in terms of content, it can’t be denied that it was written by Bruce Lee. So far, this book has been reprinted multiple times and translated into various texts, which have been sold worldwide.

Yan Jinghai is not only a master of traditional martial arts, but also an expert in fitness. He changed the method of weight lifting into a set of fitness training methods and passed it on to Bruce Lee without reservation. Let Bruce Lee have strong muscles and strong explosive force. Bruce Lee treats Yan Jinghai as his brother. He also introduced Bruce Lee to Kenny Rabel, Ed Parker and other famous American martial artists. Yan Jinghai is an assistant teacher of Zhenfan Kung Fu at Bruce Lee’s Zhenfan National Academy in Auckland.
