Liu Bowen, a great litterateur, politician and strategist in the late Yuan and early Ming Dynasty, made a very accurate prediction with his “Song of Baked Cakes”. Why is it called “Singing Songs”? It is also mentioned that on the morning of a certain day in 1368 AD, Zhu Yuanzhang, the Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, ate sesame cakes in the inner hall. He only took a bite and heard the report of Liu Bowen from the internal supervisor. The Emperor Taizu wanted to test Liu Ji, so he covered his beaker with a bowl and summoned Liu Ji to the temple.
Liu Ji (1311-1375), alias Liu Bowen and Liu Chengyi, posthumously named Master Wencheng, was born in Nantian Town, Qingtian County, Zhejiang Province, in the Ming Dynasty (today’s Nantian Town, Wencheng County, Zhejiang Province). He was a founding hero of the Ming Dynasty, a great litterateur, a statesman, and a supreme guard of officials.
