《天龙八部》是中国现代作家金庸创作的长篇武侠小说。这部小说从1963年9月开始创作并连载于《明报》，至1966年5月完成。前后共有三版，在2005年第三版中经历6稿修订，结局改动较大。
这部小说以宋哲宗时代为背景，通过宋、辽、大理、西夏、吐蕃等王国之间的武林恩怨和民族矛盾，从哲学的高度对人生和社会进行审视和描写，展示了一幅波澜壮阔的生活画卷。其故事之离奇曲折、涉及人物之众多、历史背景之广泛、武侠战役之庞大、想象力之丰富当属“金庸小说”之最。作品风格宏伟悲壮，是一部写尽人性、悲剧色彩浓厚的史诗巨著。
这部小说曾多次被改编成电影、电视剧、漫画及游戏。小说的第四十一回“燕云十八飞骑，奔腾如虎风烟举”于2004年入选人民教育出版社出版的全日制普通高级中学语文读本（必修）。
Tianlong Ba Bu “is a long martial arts novel created by modern Chinese writer Jin Yong. This novel began writing in September 1963 and was serialized in Ming Pao, and was completed in May 1966. There are three editions before and after, and in the third edition of 2005, there were six revisions, with significant changes in the outcome.

This novel takes the era of Emperor Zhezong as the background, examines and describes life and society from the perspective of philosophy through the Wulin enmity and national contradictions between the Song, Liao, Dali, Xixia, Tubo and other kingdoms, and shows a magnificent picture of life. The bizarre twists and turns of its story, the numerous characters involved, the extensive historical background, the vastness of martial arts battles, and the richness of imagination are among the most remarkable in “Jin Yong’s novels”. The style of the work is grand and tragic, and it is a epic masterpiece that portrays human nature with a strong sense of tragedy.

This novel has been adapted multiple times into movies, TV dramas, comics, and games. The 41st chapter of the novel, “Flying clouds and flying like tigers”, was selected into the full-time Chinese reading book for ordinary High school in the United States published by the People’s Education Press in 2004 (compulsory).
